WHAT A TOUGH YEAR! Along with dealing with life just as everyone, all of us, I was diagnosed with cancer. I AM PRETTY YOUNG, according to my doctors, to be dealing with this. This sickness has caused me to gain weight....while losing appetite!!!! HUH?????
After 4 surgeries since May of 2013, I am gaining my momentum to getting back into the Seattle Scene. Several Projects will be going on. Setting up an OPEN MIC for Trauma Survivors is my first goal. I am already doing this in the 3D Virtual World of Second Life. As founder of my own nonprofit, iDONTdoSILENT.com, established early last year, I decided to not only provide the services we offer in Washington State, but to bring into Second Life, a Venue to support Music. A beach setting called TiKiLaND HoTSPoT, where we have poetry, Fishing, Volleyball, Live Music and DJ's from around the world, games and meditation. As if that were not enough for an avatar, I have developed a survivors gallery, a shopping mall. ALL of these profit making ventures are strategically in place to provide a support and crisis center as well as a survivors club for Members of iDONTdoSILENT to sit amongst each other in confidence and privacy to share stories of survival, triumph, and just anything that relates to being with likeminded people from around the world.
As far as the Seattle Scene. I am working on original project and very patiently waiting for the right band members to join me in creating music that really resonates with me to be in creation mode.....anything from well though-out lyrics to totally jamming and being within and without myself doing improvisational style which used to SCARE ME TO DEATH, even as a backing vocalist being introduced on stage during a show! Now, Its second nature! Practicing on SL has helped a lot.
I truly am open to touring as backing vocals for someone really amazing and notable! It can be done as I work really hard....and dang I can hit some high notes when well oiled! So if you know anyone......................
Having recently gone to the 40th Anniversary for Robert Langs Studio, Seattle WA. I was invited by a SL boss, who is very known within the RLS circle. While there I met some famous and not yet famous high quality musicians, sound engineers, producers, etc. I thought I would not know a soul. GIGGLES...Seattle is a small world when it comes to the real inner circle of music. It truly binds us as a community, no matter how large or small you or your project may be. Its real and sincere respect for artistry. That is exactly while this southern girl has stayed here for the last twenty years. Sure I miss home. However, leaving this tight knit community would leave me soooo empty....it really is that impactful!
With all this said, basically, I started this blog to ask you to please like my facebook page! That is where you will be sure to find the latest news of my work as founder and volunteer for iDONTdoSILENT and other charities in Seattle and Second Life, such as Feed A Smile, The Blind Café, Michael J Fox Foundation, American Cancer Society, Transitional Resources, and more....just ask!
